Fitness Apps that Make Fitness at Home Possible

So your fitness center is closed for now. OK, what do you promote now???

Share some fitness apps with your residents that make it easy to maintain their fitness from home.

TIP: When sharing on social, tag the trainer’s or app’s account so residents can go directly there.

Here are a few of our faves:

  • Anna Victoria - @Annavictoria For the foreseeable future, she is offering 5 weeks FREE for new sign-ups that have been affected by COVID in any way. Her husband and family are Italian so she’s passionate about helping her community there. Code is DAJEITALIA (Go Italy)

  • Sweat - @kaylaitsines “Sweat” with Kayla Itsines and other great trainers! Perfect for at home, new mamas and all experience levels.

  • ASANA REBEL - @asanrebel Yoga at home. Save practices to create a program for yourself. There are practices for every experience level. (From one of our content contributors: I love it!! I can pick a session that fits the time I have available and they are always adding new ones.)

  • MyPlate App - Track your food and water intake to keep healthy!

Follow-up With Your Residents

This week has been TOUGH. We know it, you know it, and your residents certainly do too. Check in on how they are actually doing. Especially your older residents! They need all the extra love right now.

What to ask:

  • Do they need anything? Groceries? Water? Pet care?

  • What can you do to help? They may need someone to get their mail, or walk the dog for them.

  • Emotionally - how are they? Look for a good story to share! Lift their spirits with some good news.

Residents Homeschooling Now? Share These Resources

Sprout Daily Dose_Circle.png

Use these resources to help out parents who are now homeschooling!

  • No secret - homeschooling is not easy nor for the faint of heart. It requires self- discipline, diligence, and a lot of patience.

Use these resources to help out your community. Share the tips with your residents on social media or email them out.

  1. Check the school website.

  2. Find a schedule. - Share these printable schedules!

  3. Use free educational websites. Scholastic is offering 20 days of lessons completely free.

  4. Play some Read-Alouds. Many authors, illustrators and publishing companies are having daily or weekly read aloud. Kids can listen to their favorite authors read their favorite books!

  5. Check out E-Books. The Epic! reading app announced Monday that it would be free to parents for the rest of the school year.

  6. Get physical. With kids kept indoors more than usual, don't forget to provide plenty of wiggle time.

  7. Watch documentaries. Turn on Netflix so you can chill (or get some work done). And there are plenty of quality films to get you through quarantine.

Commonsense media keeps a list of the best documentaries for kids.

Working from Home? Tips you NEED

Sprout Daily Dose_Circle.png

WFH TIPS YOU’LL NEED (To share with your residents):

  1. Give yourself the grace to find your rhythm. It’s an adjustment for anyone who hasn’t done it before.

  2. Get ready for your workday in the same way you would if you were leaving the house.

  3. Maintain normal work hours as best as you can.

  4. Do not mix housework with your work tasks.

  5. If you are used to having meetings scheduled that break up your day, schedule a few work-related activities to do at certain times in order to give your day some variety.

  6. Don’t eat lunch at your desk.

  7. Take a break and get outside.

  8. Keep a list of your goals or tasks for the day, and check off what you’ve accomplished.

  9. At the end of the day, take a quick scan of your calendar or to-do list for the next day so you know what you have to work on next.

Self-Care for your residents - FIRST DAY OF SPRING

Most of your residents are practicing social distancing at home with free time. Offer up some ideas to keep them from getting bored! Remember, Self-Care comes in many forms!

  1. Try a new recipe. We love Minimalist Baker for her simple, yet DELICIOUS recipes. Like this 1-Pot Chicken Soup

  2. Deep clean your apartment and diffuse some essential oils for a mood booster.

  3. Try meditation. So many of us are glued to the news and our phones. Try taking 30 minutes to put away distractions and quiet our minds.

  4. Do a face mask. All those sheet masks you don’t have time for? Now you do.

  5. Read a book! Share some of your old favorites that residents can find online.
