Families with children have found themselves at home juggling secular work, online schooling, parental duties, and little human bodies that never stop moving (or saying they are bored).

These family-friendly activities will let you be the hero they need!

BRING IT TO LIFE

Story Time: Download the “Story Time” digital graphic below and let your residents know when story hour will be (have them rsvp to receive your zoom link). Let someone on your team become a teacher/librarian for 30 minutes. Alt: grab the “Story Time” digital graphic and post a video link to a celebrity reading a kid’s story.
Game time: There are dozens of games that can be played via zoom. Here are a few:
- Bingo: Players can each make a card at home with 5 rows down and 5 rows across. Then fill in a number 1-75 of your choice for each square. Pick random numbers and have them mark off any on their cards. The first one who calls bingo shows their page.
- Guess the Animal: You think of an animal and the other players take turns asking (1) question and (1) guess to figure out what animal it is. Simple and fun.
- Charades: A player chooses a book title, famous person, character, movie, or song. Then the player acts out the item they picked without using words. The other players watch on Zoom and place their guesses in the zoom chat. The first person to guess correctly wins.
- Scavenger Hunt: Ask the kids to find an item in their house. Some examples could be a teddy bear, sunglasses, keys, red book, something soft, or anything else most people have in their house. The first kid back to show off their item on the Zoom chat wins. The player with the most wins at the end of the game gets a prize.
Craft Time: Let residents DM you to be added to the list to receive packets with coloring pages and crayons. Or, get a resident to demonstrate a fun craft via zoom.
Slime Time: Let residents DM you to be added to the list to receive slime. You can purchase it or make it yourself to provide residents. Trust us, the texture is SO fun to play with.
