If you aren’t blogging yet or you think blogging is dead, think again! Blogging is a great way to get that great organic SEO to your community. This works especially well to drive local, hyper-targeted traffic.

So what makes a blog effective?

THREE steps to writing a blog that your people will want to read:

  1. Get in and get out - aka get to the point! Don’t use all the fluffy language, try to bait and switch, or overcomplicate.

  2. Use your OWN language. Sometimes it’s hard to do that when you’ve been reading so many other blogs in your industry, but try to stay true to your own voice. Need inspo? Go just outside of your industry. For example: Check out bloggers that write about home decor or check out the hospitality industry. It’s still related to multifamily, but not exactly the same. You can get inspired without copying.

  3. Do two things at the same time: Relate to other humans as a human, and write like you are writing to one INDIVIDUAL not an audience. Ditch corporate speak. Keep it personal and relatable.

What kind of blogs can you write about for your community?

  • Position yourself as the expert of your neighborhood. Write about new restaurants, local businesses, parks and more!

  • FAQs: Do you get a lot of Frequently Asked Questions from new residents? Write a blog that answers those questions. It’s a great resource to share with new residents and it’s a great way to show potential residents that your community cares.

  • Write about things that your residents care about. If a lot of your residents have children, write a blog on fun ways to entertain the kiddos when they are out of school. If you are super pet-friendly, write about how to keep your pets safe in the severe summer/winter months.

These are just a few simple tips to increase the effectiveness of your community blog. Get to brainstorming and you’ll see the possibilities are endless!
