WHY Host a Fitness Event?
Of the people that are most active, 59.7 percent reported exercising at least three times a week for half an hour or more.
Our residents love food and pet events any day of the year, right? A healthy balance is necessary, though! Healthy residents will be happy residents. So whether you have a fantastic fitness center with all the bells and whistles or not, you can promote a healthy lifestyle in your community. Show them how to make it happen themselves with a great event.
YOU CAN CRUSH YOUR MARKETING GOALS
Hit your renewal goals by showing your residents it’s a great place to live!
Reach out to local businesses or local universities for cross-promotion opportunities.
Outreach marketing is easy to do by inviting prospects to imagine themselves there.
Use the amenities your community has to the fullest! Sell a lifestyle, not just a home.
Cross-Promote with a Local Gym, University, or Trainer
Is your gym a full gym with all the bells and whistles? Does your gym not have much beyond the basics? Sure, you’ll have a treadmill, a few weights, and benches, but maybe not much more. That’s ok! Call in some experts to help. Your residents will want to know that they can get all their fitness needs met in just a few hundred feet.
You want your residents to learn how to maximize their experience and get a quality workout at your fitness center, so show them how! Having a trainer come to your event adds tremendous value to your community!
For this event to be successful, residents need to attend. Give them enough notice to fit it into their schedule, and show up excited.

How to make it happen?
Set up an event where your residents can work out together!
Contact local trainers and gyms or universities and invite them to your event. It will add credibility to your event and boost excitement for the fitness center.
Contact local universities. They have internal staff at their gyms for students and faculty. You won’t be in direct competition with them, and student staff would be happy to get some exposure and lead a group class for you!
If all goes well, this could turn into a repeat event! Have your local trainer come out once a month to lead a workout and teach your residents some new exercises.
Snap pics and post all the fun (and SWEAT!) on your IG stories.
PRO TIP: If it’s in your budget, get some custom swag for your residents. Water bottles with your apartment name is a perfect option! Ask for RSVPs to make sure you have enough.

Give Prospects a Taste of the Good Life
There are two fantastic options, here. Pick one (or both, you overachiever, you) and crush your outreach and PEP marketing initiatives. We want your prospects to get a good idea of what life will be like in your community, so their only option will be to sign that lease.
PEP Marketing:
Visit your preferred employers to brag about your fitness center!
Designate a week or specific events for their employers. Example: “The first week of February is all for medical professionals! Come by and use our gym to see what a perfect fit it is!”
When they do come, be sure to give them the best welcome. Provide water and make sure the fitness center is pristine.
Post a flyer of your current specials in the fitness center or the restrooms. Just be sure it’s in a space where they will see it.

Prospects:
When someone comes to tour, extend that tour to a full 30 days!
Hand out 30-day passes to those that are very interested and need a little extra convincing to sign on the dotted line.
You want these prospects to experience a taste of a stellar lifestyle so everything needs to be on point.
Water bottles, towels, and after-workout snacks are a must.

Follow Up on Their Fitness Goals
Take note of the prospects that you’ve extended passes to. Follow up after the week or month of using your fitness center. This is a great way to focus your efforts on aspects of lifestyle that will actually appeal to your prospect. Focused efforts are successful efforts.

PRO TIP: Send a small gift card to a local juice bar or healthy cafe to promote a healthy lifestyle at your community! Show them how easy it is to maintain a fit lifestyle at their new home.
