PART 2: 3 SECRETS TO AVOID CONFLICT
Responding to a triggering situation vs. reacting to a triggering situation
Responding: Comes from a place of kindness & thoughtfulness, equipped inspiration, teaching, and leadership. Lower and more normalized tone with soft body language.
Reacting: Quick, sharp, harsh tone. Body language is tense. Comes with a feeling of guilt.
Respond, don’t react!
Firm responses can still be delivered with a leadership tone.
The goal is to feel 100% confident that you handled the situation the best you knew how to.
3 Secrets to avoid conflict:
1: Give yourself a brief pause in all communication, meetings, and conversations. “Think before you speak”. Choose to respond in a favorable way.
2: Gather your thoughts and respond like the leader that you are. Respond, don’t react.
3: If you choose to create conflict, remember that you will be seeing that person/team again and working with them.
Use these tools to respond vs. react in a conflict.
