HEATHER BLUME FROM BEHIND THE LEASING DESK

It's okay if you're not okay - trauma responses vary from person to person

  • Refocusing and processing strategies

    • Power of a pause and breathing

    • Let yourself feel it

    • Connect with a person you care about/who cares about you

    • Ask what is making you feel "off"

    • Pets are powerful aides

    • Indulge in simple pleasures

    • Ignore the overly negative memes out there regarding said indulgences. You’re not a fatty, and you’re not a drunk-y. You’re human. The binge is normal.

    • Keep a list of 3 focus points for the day

    • Take a break and leave your desk

    • Allow yourself a bad 5 or even 10 minutes - Processing a moment of weakness leads to a replenishment of your strength

  • We all feel that helplessness and desire to help somehow.

    • Look for the good and try to replicate it for yourself and your community

BARBARA SAVONA OF SPROUT MARKETING

Master the Pivot with a Minimal Viable (Potent) Dose

  • Pivot: Our feet stay planted in what we know, we make minor adjustments to new circumstances

  • Basics won’t change and they will be important

    • Actions to retain current residents

    • Actions to attract new residents (It’s ok to sell right now, uptick in online traffic, FB, IG - people might be sick of their spouse, sick of their home, sick of their neighbors, and disappointed at how their community handled the crisis)

    • Retaining great talent

  • Identify the Minimum Viable Dose (Don’t do a full 360 all at once)

    • Attention + Influence (Consistently)

  • Retention Through Personalization While Conserving Mental Bandwidth

    • This is an opportunity for you to stand out as a lifeline to your residents and a trusted source

    • Communicate often

      • Pick your platform

      • Pick your time

    • Make it feel personal

      • Loom - Videos  & Email Templates

        • FAQ’s

          • Emergency Maintenance

          • Why Amenities Are Closed

          • Rent Questions

        • Virtual Tours

        • Follow Up

        • Team Updates

    • Decide Now What the Other Side Looks Like for You

      • How adaptable are you? What skills did you pick up? Growth sometimes is forced upon us, but we still grow

      • What parts of normal do we not want to go back to?

      • What will be the new “normal” of operations
