Avoiding and Resolving Conflict in the Workplace
Part 4: CASEY’S GUIDE TO HANDLE PAST CONFLICTS
HOW TO HANDLE PAST CONFLICT
Reflection helps! Think about a recent conflict or unresolved conflict from long ago.
Action steps:
Grab a journal and answer this question: Is there anything you like or don’t like about the conflict that took place?
Free write and replay the moment as you remember it.
Next, turn the page, draw a line down the center of the page.
On the right side of the page write down the things you liked about the conflict.
On the left side of the page write down the things you did not like about the conflict.
Read the list as an observer.
Flip the page.
Answer the question: If you were given an opportunity for a re-do, what would you change or do differently?
Refer to this when another conflict arises. You will be better prepared!
