Just for You: Back-to-School Survival Kit

Back-to-school season hits a little differently when you work onsite.

You’re helping residents, answering calls, managing move-ins, checking on work orders, supporting your team, and somehow also remembering permission slips, snack day, school supplies, lunchboxes, and what time pickup starts.

So we put together a simple little survival kit to help make this season feel a bit easier.

Download the kit HERE or browse below!

5 Easy Lunches to Keep on Rotation

1. The Snack Box Lunch

Crackers, turkey or ham, cheese cubes, fruit, pretzels, and a small treat. Easy to pack and kid-approved.

2. Breakfast for Lunch

Mini waffles, boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, and a little syrup or honey on the side.

3. Taco Bowl

Rice, ground beef or chicken, cheese, salsa, and a little lettuce or corn. Pack it warm or cold depending on what your child likes.

4. Pasta Salad Cup

Pasta, Italian dressing, cheese cubes, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and pepperoni or chicken.

5. Roll-Up Lunch

Tortilla, turkey or ham, cheese, and a little ranch or cream cheese. Roll it up, slice it, and add fruit or chips on the side.

5 Tips to Make School Mornings Easier

1. Pack what you can the night before.

Lunches, backpacks, water bottles, and outfits are always easier before the morning rush begins.

2. Create a grab-and-go snack bin.

Keep easy snacks in one place so you’re not searching the pantry while trying to get out the door.

3. Make a lunch rotation list.

Write down 5 to 7 lunches your kids actually eat and rotate them. You do not need a brand-new idea every day.

4. Keep a school station near the door.

Backpacks, shoes, folders, and jackets all need a home. The fewer morning scavenger hunts, the better.

5. Give yourself some grace.

Some mornings will be smooth. Some mornings will be cereal in a baggie and a signed form at a red light. You’re still doing a good job.

“Lunchbox Love Notes” By Age

For little kids:

  • You are my sunshine today.

  • I hope your day is full of giggles.

  • I love being your mom.

For big kids:

  • You’ve got this.

  • Proud of you, always.

  • Be kind, be brave, be yourself.

For teens:

  • I know school can be a lot. I’m always in your corner.

  • Just a reminder: you are loved more than you know.

  • You don’t have to have it all figured out today.

A Note for You, the Property Manager

You’re carrying a lot right now.

You’re taking care of residents, your team, your community, your family, and all the tiny details that somehow land on your plate.

So here’s your reminder: you do not have to make this season perfect. You just have to make it workable.

Pack the simple lunch. Reuse the same checklist. Put the note in the lunchbox when you remember. Take the shortcut when you need it.

You’re doing better than you think.

xoxo, Barbara
