Video: Sprout Marketing Playbook & Marketing Themes
Marketing can feel completely overwhelming—whether you’re trying to post on Instagram or Facebook, start a consistent routine on LinkedIn (a goal I had), or tackle the outreach and social media tasks you know your community needs. All of it can feel big and heavy.
If you’re here for the Marketing Themes, I’m gonna tell you to go ahead and skip to the good part! At 7:48, I’m sharing my foundational steps to simplifying marketing through themes.
So I want to let you in on a little secret that has helped me enormously throughout my career. It helped me when I was a property manager, and I carried it with me when I started my own business. I still live by this principle today:
I pick themes for each day.
Themes make decisions a no-brainer, and our brains love simple, repeatable patterns.
In my playbook, I share five daily themes—Monday through Friday—that, when done consistently, help you and your team build momentum. They’re small habits that eventually become part of your DNA. This becomes your new rhythm for approaching marketing.
For Monday, I call it Meetup Monday. This is just one example—these are my themes, and you can totally take them, tweak them, or create your own. I’ll share some alternatives in a moment.
Meetup Monday is when you meet with your team to align on the week’s marketing goals. In the worksheet, you can map out the plan:
What’s our outreach this week?
What are we doing on social?
Do we have events coming up?
Any ILS updates or other little pieces we need to handle?
It’s just a quick meeting of the minds. You could even call it Meetup Monday: Meeting of the Minds.
Another alternative I love is Make Me Smile Monday. Every team member tries to make at least one resident smile—through a kind gesture, a meaningful conversation, or a helpful interaction—and then shares it at the next team meeting.
You could also go with Motivation Monday or Marketing Monday. Maybe Monday is your outreach day, so starting the week strong makes sense. Or maybe Mondays are when you post a motivational tip for residents on social media.
My personal favorite is still Meetup Monday. I love starting the week with clarity and knowing my team and I are aligned.
