Free Finds with Friends!

Instead of braving the crowds and spending money, residents can “shop” right at home by swapping gently used items with their neighbors. It’s part decluttering, part treasure hunt, and all about building community connections.

How to Host:

Collect Items

Residents bring gently used items such as:
Clothing, shoes, and accessories
Books, puzzles, and games
Home décor or kitchen items
Kids’ toys or seasonal décor
(Optional: Provide a donation bin for anything left over to go to a local charity.)

Set Up the Swap Space

Use folding tables or clothing racks for display.
Sort items into sections (Clothing, Books, Home Décor, Kids).
Provide shopping bags or totes for residents to “shop” with.

Swap Rules (Keep it Simple)

Residents can take as much as they bring—or use a “take what you need” honor system.
No money changes hands.
Encourage residents to label items with fun tags like “Loved by Me, Ready for You!”
